School phone: 816-675-2217
Plan hour: 11:55-12:42
At the 7th grade level, Science class covers a broad variety of topics. This is a survey course providing students with a basic understanding of key science concepts. Students focus on learning overall concepts and theories to help them understand and explain aspects of nature. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to:
Science Explorer Series Prentice Hall pub.
All science courses will involve laboratory investigations that are relevant to the topic being discussed. Lab safety is an important priority at these times. Any student engaging in behavior that is deemed unsafe during lab activities will be removed from the room. Repeat offenses will result in permanent removal from lab activities, and an alternative assignment will be given.
Unsafe activities include but are not limited to: failure to wear safety goggles at all times, horseplay/rowdiness, or failure to follow directions for safe techniques. Safety procedures will be discussed at the beginning of the year and with each lab as necessary.
In accordance with school policy, students will be expected to be seated and prepared to work when the bell rings. Students should respect each other and remain silent when others are talking.
Assignments will be due at the beginning of the hour. Missing or incomplete assignments will result in a ZAP (zeroes are prohibited) ticket and will be reported in Grade Watch. Students receiving a ZAP ticket will report to the ZAP room on that day.
Cheating, copying, or plagiarism will result in a zero for that assignment.
All grading and disciplinary actions will be done according to the student handbook. Refer to the handbook for any further information.
