2023 Inclement Weather Information: Closings or Late Starts
At this time the district is no longer participating in AMI Days. The board approved the calendar last year that had extra hours built into our school year that allows for this. Please refer to the following information in the case of a snow day or late start.
Inclement Weather Letter from the Principal
Dear Wildcat Families,
During the winter months, Osborn R-0 School often experiences a few days of very cold, icy, or snowy weather that dictates closing or delaying school. This letter is to remind everyone of our inclement weather procedures.
Notifications
In the case of a school closure or delay a notification will be sent out via phone call, text, social media, and/or email. Local news stations will be notified and report the closure as well.
Snow Days
This year we will be using traditional snow days for the first 6 days of school missed for weather. Students will not have assignments.
Late Start
There may be a time when Osborn elects to start the school day later than a normal day when certain weather conditions allow. Parents will be notified by SCHOOL REACH preferably the night before. School normally starts at 8:00; however, on the day of a LATE START classes will begin at 10:00. We request that students and parents please use the following guidelines when notified of a LATE START.
1. The bus routes will not change and your child will be picked up by bus approximately 2 hours later than their regular time and at the same location.
2. Students who walk or drive to school and students who are dropped off should not arrive before 9:30 a.m.
3. Teachers will arrive by 9:30a.m.
4. We will not serve breakfast the day of a LATE START.
5. We will try, in every way possible, to notify the parents the night before so appropriate arrangements can be made.
6. The end of day release time will not change.
Sincerely,
Ida Kemper
K-12 Principal
